Frigidaire, General Electric, Kenmore, and Whirlpool account for almost 60 percent of top-freezer refrigerator sales. For side-by-side models, these brands and Amana account for more than 80 percent of sales. Brands offering bottom-freezer models include Amana, GE, Kenmore, and KitchenAid. Mainstream manufacturers have launched high-end sub-brands such as GE Profile and Kenmore Elite. Four brands specialize in built-in refrigerators: Sub-Zero, Viking, GE Monogram, and KitchenAid. Amana, GE and Whirlpool offer built-in-style or cabinet-depth models. Only a handful of companies actually manufacture refrigerators. The same or very similar units may be sold under several brands. LG, a brand new to the U.S. market, offers side-by-side, top-mount and bottom-mount types.
